There are many expensive cars in the market at present, but if you thought you had knowledge about all of them, you might be wrong. The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO could be the most expensive car ever put for sale, available for a cost worth $56.8 million.
The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO has been listed with UK classic Ferrari specialist Talacrest, and if the reports are true, then its price would definitely beat up the previous most expensive car: $38.1 million record setup by another Ferrari 250 GTO, earlier in 2014.

This Ferrari 250 GTO was launched in 1962 and became the first Gran Turismo Omologato (meaning Grand Touring Homologated in Italian), to ever take part in a race. The first race was held at the 1962 Sebring, whereas, the second one took place at the 1962 Le Mans.
The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO was driven was by the racing legends Phil Hill and Olivier Gendebien at the Sebring, occupying the second position in the same. At the Le Mans, the 250 GTO was in the hands of Bob Grossman and Glenn Roberts, occupying the third rank in its class.
The GTO is probably the most sought-after cars so far. But, since the classic Ferrari is a rare car, there's a huge competition among collectors to get their hands on one. The production of the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO dates back from 1962 to 1964. But, as only 39 units were ever made, the current model is the second one set up for auction, coming out of the production line.
