What is Depression?
According to the Journal of Depression and Anxiety, depression is defined as a state of low mood and aversion toward to a certain activity that can change a person's thoughts, behavior, feelings and sense of well-being.
A person who is in depressed mood may feel a feeling of sadness, anxiousness, emptiness, hopelessness, helplessness, worthlessness, guilt, irritation, shame or restlessness. These conditions occur due to the chemical reaction in the brain wherein there is a reduction in the amount of certain neurotransmitter such as serotonin and norepinephrine, which is commonly found in depressed people.
Therefore, low levels of neurotransmitter is more likely you are a depressed person and the more negative introspection you deal with, the lower your serotonin levels become.
17 Jobs that produce Depression.
According to Joe.ie, a study conducted by the American Health Authority in 55 industries that create high rate of depression states that there are 17 jobs that generate a multitude level of depression to a particular person. It leaves high level of stress and anxiousness and worst case scenario is putting the person into depression state. Based from the results, it was found out that the industries that have the highest clinical depression were industries that "require frequent or difficult interactions with the public or clients."
Meaning to say, its is a profession or industry that always requires you to give an immediate act or giving a customer a relentless service. This is also described as "emotional labor." This means that the workers are expected to regulate their emotions during the interaction with the customer.
