It is believed that catching Dragon/Flying type Pokemon Salamence is not an easy task. But, that's not true. In fact, gamers can actually catch the creature early in the game that too on the first island in "Pokemon Sun and Moon."

To catch Salamence, gamers will need to first complete the first trial of the Totem Gumshoo Island. This will unlock SOS mechanic through which a Pokemon can call for help. Once the SOS mechanic gets unlocked, the Pokemon will call for help once its HP gets low. The next thing which gamers will need to do is finish the Mallows Trial which will unlock the Adrenaline Orb. Notably, Adrenaline Orb is a new item which has been introduced in "Pokemon Sun and Moon." Players can purchase this item at any Pokemon Center present in the game. What Adrenaline Orb does is it makes Pokemon call for help during battle.

Next, players will need to proceed to Route 3 on Melemele Island. They will have to cross the bridge to the patch of grass on the right and then wait patiently for a Bagon to spawn. On getting a Bagon, players can use the False Swipe on the Pokemon until its HP reaches 1. After that they can use the Adrenaline Orb on it to make it call for help. This is the time when another Bagon will appear. Kill the new Pokemon that appears and leave the original at 1 HP. Eventually a level 10 Salamence will come to rescue Bagon.
