Facebook Touts 'New Look for News Feed' Coming March 7
Facebook will roll out a new look for its news feed at a media event on March 7 at its Menlo Park, California headquarters. The largest social networking site is seeking ways to refresh its look for its 1 billion users.
In a press invite sent out by the company, Facebook teases the event by saying users will "see a new look for News Feed."
According to The Next Web, Facebook has been testing a new Timeline design in New Zealand. The new look brings a slimmed down toolbar to the top of profile pages and repositions other content. There is also a new "About" widget below your profile picture, and the Timeline navigation has been moved to the top right of the page, taking over the current spot reserved for ads.
Meanwhile, TechCrunch noted that Facebook was thought to be planning a redesign of its mobile news feed, which was more focused on photos than text.
Facebook last made a major update to its newsfeed in September 2011 and since then, the company has incorporated ads directly into the feed and the company has shifted its focus to creating "mobile first experiences," as more people now access the social network every day on mobile devices than on desktop PCs.
