With the holiday season upon us, last-minute gift buyers are frantic in finding perfect gifts for their friends and family. This has proven to be an early holiday gift for Apple as consumers have been clamoring for Apple Watches as their go-to gift of choice this year.

Tim Cook, through an e-mail correspondence with Reuters, said this about the supposed amazing sales week the company has just had with their Apple Watch products:

"Our data shows that Apple Watch is doing great and looks to be one of the most popular holiday gifts this year. Sales growth is off the charts," stated the Apple CEO. "In fact, during the first week of holiday shopping, our sell-through of Apple Watch was greater than any week in the product's history. And as we expected, we're on track for the best quarter ever for Apple Watch."

This claims of the sudden boost in sales could not have come at a better time for Apple, seeing as just a mere day before Tim Cook had released his statement, American market research firm IDC had published a market report marking last quarter's Apple Watch sales to have gone down a staggering 71 percent.

This was markedly due to Apple releasing their latest Series 2 line only at the end of the summer of 2016. July to September of this year was a bad time to consider purchasing an Apple Watch, and the marketing data really shows that.

All said, Tim Cook has yet to provide any hard numbers with regards to the sales of the Apple Watch. More public announcements of sales data are more often reserved for their main bread and butter products such as the iPhones and iPads. Nevertheless, if the CEO's words are to be believed, things are starting to look up for Apple as we approach the New Year.
