Google Allo: Google's Smart Assistant Gets Support For Hindi Language

Google Allo has launched support for Hindi, a widely spoken language in India. Google Assistant, a popular feature of the app, will now understand and respond in Hindi. Users of the app need to use the command "Talk to me in Hindi" in order to use this feature.

According to Google, Hindi is the second language which is supported by the Google Assistant. India is the company's second largest market and it is looking forward to exponential growth in the coming months. This move confirms Google's faith in the Indian market. This new update will soon roll out on both iOS and Android devices.

"The Google Assistant is one of the best loved features of the Allo app," said  Amit Fulay, Group Product Manager (India). It is so popular that it receives 1 out of every 12 messages sent to the app. We are encouraged by this and today's launch enables us to deliver these features to the next millions of users in a language of their choice".

The company had first demonstrated the feature at the "Google for India" event on September this year. At the event, the company's executives had spoken at length about how Google is tailoring its services for the Indian market. Google Allo was launched in the same month.

This new launch by Google might have come as a response to a proposal by the Indian Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), India. In late October, the ministry had proposed that all phone companies support one regional Indian language.

Google Assistant is designed to assist users with any information they want. The feature focuses on delivering information in a conversational format. It can also play games with all the users of Google Allo. Now, all Indian users of Google Allo will be able to use all of these features in Hindi.
