Overwatch fans are getting there holiday presents early this year, with dataminers discovering signs of an upcoming Christmas-themed event slated to happen in the game. The dataminers found out a curiously holiday-themed map amongst three other new maps hidden in the game's code. This all but confirms that Blizzard has something in store for the Christmas season with their Overwatch title.

The dataminers have stated that in their search for other hidden goodies in the Overwatch code, they have potentially found a total of three holiday-themed maps. Whether or not this is confirmed to be used soon remains to be seen.

Other discoveries include a new voice line, a spray with a holiday theme, and some special seasonal skins and character victory poses. This is not unlike what Blizzard decided to do for Junkenstein's Revenge of the Halloween Terror event last October. New music is also slated to be release along with all these other updates and goodies.

Several characters have also been to found to have new costumes and emotes. These include Ana, D. Va, Lucio, Mercy, Reaper, Reinhardt, Roadhog, Sombra, Soldier: 76, Symmetra, and Widowmaker. These characters will all be getting two to three extra costumes. The character Torbjörn's costume according to the dataminers, is looking to be paying an homage to the traditional jolly red suit of Santa Claus.

The speculations based on the datamine - later proven to be confirmed by Blizzard themselves - showed that Ovewatch would be running the special holiday event for three weeks, starting on December 13. Earlier this week, the Overwatch team posted an official digital Christmas invitation on Twitter, making the December 13 event official.

As for the exact content of the Christmas-themed event and game updates, the Overwatch tweet was careful not to let out all the information. And so players and fans still have some surprises to look forward to on the official release date on December 13.
