Best PC Games of 2016: Old Names Resurrected, 'Overwatch' Tops Gamespot List

And the word is out, people! The list of the best and the worst games for PCs has been released. The verdict is in, according to Gamespot.

You would be surprised to know the games which have lagged and the ones which have made a good comeback. But more about that later.

2016 was an interesting year for the PC gamers. Upgraded hardware significantly improved the experience of the gamers and made the gameplay worth every penny. It was also the year of full-fledged virtual reality support.

Some significant names toppled, while some iconic games made a well-deserved comeback. Most of these games are first person shooter PC games or games which require a lot of strategy. These games are supposedly well played with the keyboard and a dedicated mouse.

The PC Games of 2016 had their own drawbacks, too. There were complaints of several performance issues. Developers tried to resolve the problems the best way they could, but how much more does a common gamer suffer? Let us move on to the Best PC Games of 2016 list:

"Overwatch" series did phenomenally well in the PC segment. It was the most competitive team based shooter game. The second in line was the evergreen and always popular Counterstrike Global Offensive.

"Overwatch" succeeded because of its spectacular and engaging game play and the efforts put into each character involved. The game is still going strong after the game release along with several updates and features.

"World of Warcraft" is a multiplayer online role playing game, and one of the best in its kind. It released an expansion pack which sold 3 million copies on the first day itself. Such expansions and changes were also seen in "Star Wars: The Old Republic" along with "The Elder Scrolls Online". The list also includes Final "Fantasy XIV" which announced "Stormblood" as an expansion.

"Civilisation 6" also remained strong in the game by improving its gameplay and involving more opportunities for the players. Similarly, "Doom" may not top the list, but changes in the background setting and increasing its savageness probably helped the game.

Some independent games also make a cut in the Gamespot list which mentions "Owlboy" because of its visual novelty, and "Quadrilateral Cowboy" because of its manipulation tactics. In the puzzle segment, The Witness did pretty well, too!

Moving on to the problematic releases, "Looking Glass" releases of "Dishonored 2" and "Deus Ex Mankind Divided" suffered from heavy performance issues. These issues were faced immediately after release, much to the chagrin of the fans. "Mafia 3" also had some framerate issues but that was quickly solved, thankfully. "No Man's Sky" has caught everyone's fancy but its stability is still quite questionable.
