SpaceX By Elon Musk Again Tops The Space Category In The Recent Awards

Elon Musk has a great year this 2016; his companies and himself received several awards. The failure of SpaceX last Septemeber may be bad, but SpaceX won the World Technology Summit Space category under the organization.

On Dec. 8, 2016, at the Los Angeles Times HQ building in California, The World Technology Network hosted its World Technology Summit. It has announced winners in the 20 categories. SpaceX got the award for its Space category in the field of innovation.

The Teslarati reported that the goal of the World Technology Network is to establish a forum for the innovators in different disciplines in emerging technologies, to look for unique and new ways to collaborate. On its website, it stated that, "The WTN exists to encourage happy accidents of colliding ideas and new relationships that cause the biggest breakthroughs for individuals and institutions. Through global and regional events for its members. To help make connections among them and to examine possible applications of emerging technologies."

The nominees for the Space category, originally composed of 20 companies. Then it is eliminated down to five. SpaceX competed against Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin, Rocket Lab and Planet Labs, as well as with the Bigelow Aerospace.

However, to be a member of the network, it is only granted through the annual awards process. Its judging is done by the current Fellows. The Summit is then followed by the World Technology Awards gala. It is a two-day conference that took place at the United Nations, panel discussions, networking and comprising of keynote addresses.

As for Elon Musk, in 2014 he won the individual award for innovation in energy and space technology. Now, Jeff Bezos got the individual award for the 2016 "space" category.

Thus, it is a great year for Elon Musk, as he is awarded the most admirable tech leader. And for SpaceX, it belongs to the Glassdoor's 2016 Top 50 "Best Places to Work."
