Lets face it-celebrities will do just about anything to keep from gaining an ounce of water weight, a fate worse than death when spotted by the photographer from a tabloid magazine who may claim that a celebrity's baby bump is just in fact last night's dinner.

And so, the celebrities are trying it all-from natural and homeopathic diet aids to green tea capsules, acupuncture and more. However, a recent study claims that these natural weight loss aids, popularly used by Gwyneth Paltrow, Kylie and Elle MacPherson are just a load of hooey.

According to Mail Online, complementary medications that supposedly boost weight loss, including diet pills, acupuncture, etc., could, in fact, have absolutely no effect as weight loss aids and may even be causing more harm than good.

The Times reports that a study by the University of Exeter into natural diet aids has found that there is no evidence that natural diet remedies work to help with weight loss.

Professor of complementary medicine at the University of Exeter, Edzard Ernst, even went as so far as to call them 'bogus.'

In his latest study, published in the Journal of Dietary supplements Profesor Ernst reviewed control trials which reported a positive effect on weight loss of African Bush Mango, or Irvingia gabonensis, which is found in many natural diet products.

Ernst said, 'Over the years we have looked into a lot of treatments and there is not a single one I recommend,' referring to all three of the studies, which claimed that the African Bush Mango was more effective than a placebo. However, Ernst believed that the methodology was flawed and the supplement could not be recommend as a weight loss aid.

Ernst also warns that such weight loss methods can be harmful, suggesting that homeopathic remedies can cause headaches and insomnia.
