Ford said that the company worked on a prototype by testing it in all sorts of weather conditions. The company also said that the upgrades to service the latest supercar from dealers alone would cost $30,000. They also said that the GT took its tutorship at Le Mans together with the third and fourth place, as reported by Autonews.

Raj Nair, Executive VP, the global product development, and chief technical officer of the company said that when 2016 had kicked off, they had two primary objectives for their Ford GT supercar:

  • To excel at Le Mans and
  • To start deliveries before year-end.

He proudly said that the company has achieved both the objectives.

A Moment To Celebrate for Ford

He also said that it is indeed a moment to celebrate for all those who have been involved in the designing and developing of the Ford GT supercar, including all of the company's employees and suppliers. He expressed that the car is a display of the company's strengths in innovation and their commitment towards delivering more for their customers especially with regards to "lightweight materials, aerodynamics, and EcoBoost engine technologies," as reported by AutoFocus Canada.

The all-new 2017 Ford GT is equipped with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoostV6, which offers 600hp power. The engine also sports new and advanced technologies such as port or "direct dual fuel injection" and "low-friction valve train."

Who Will Get The New 2017 Ford GT

Ford will sell the car for four years. Ford had accepted applications from the buyers and 1,000 applicants were selected. Existing GT owners were preferred, and a potential buyer who would actually drive the vehicle were also given an edge during the selection process.

First, new 2017 Ford GT will go to the Ford chairman Bill Ford whereas the CEO Mark Fields will get the second model.
