Rich Products is expanding the recall of certain food products to include frozen pizza due to severe complications from E. coli contamination.

After 18-year old Tonawanda resident Robert Ormsby Jr. went into the hospital for such complications with his family alleging that his favorite food-pizza snacks manufactured by the company-had made him violently ill, they hired an attorney Jed Dietrich to investigate.

"At this point it appears that his injury will require medical care life long," said Dietrich.

Ormsby is one of 24 people infected in an E.coli outbreak across 15 states. The majority of victims are 21 years old or younger.

According to SOFTPEDIA, some have reported eating products labeled under the "Farm Rich" brand, including frozen chicken, quesadillas and other mini meals or frozen snack items.

The Centers for Disease Control said one source of the outbreak has been narrowed down to Rich Product's manufacturing plant in Waycross, Ga.

"We've been operating that facility for 11 years and we've had no incidents. We had the FDA do a comprehensive review of the facility which just finished up today and they found no non-conformance issues," stated Dwight Gram, spokesperson for Rich Products, according to Buffalo Business First.

Yet the exact source of the E. coli contaminatino still remains unknown as the company expanded its voluntary recall to all products produced at the plant in Georgia with a "best by" date from January 1st 2013 to September 29th, 2014.

Symptoms of the illness include mild to severe diarrhea and abdominal cramps, blood in your stool, however there is usually little or no fever present. In severe cases the condition can cause serious kidney damage and even death.

WebMD also notes that children are more likely to suffer from E. coli symptoms than adults when infected.
