If you've ever watched "The Jetsons" and dreamed of flying over everyone, scientists may not be able to get you into space just yet (unless you're an astronaut) but with the help of R&D engineers, the concept behind a hover car isn't too far off, according to a recent report.

Automaker Hyundai recently held the best office-wide contest, which asked contestants to show their stuff. And guess what? They did just that, with the unveiling of a multi-motor flying electric concept car!

Since 2010, Hyundai's R&D Center in South Korea has helped organize an internal contest to come up with innovative ideas to spark the invention of creative thought. The company held its annual Idea Festival to highlight the staff's most unique "free mobility" designs from 2012.

The concept car shown in South Korea doesn't have a name yet. According to PopSci, "car" is a loose term to describe the prdocut as it works more like a drone. The engineers put a crash test dummy in the cockpit while an engineer wearing a red cape controlled the hovering electric vehicle remotely. At this point, researchers agree that it's still in the beginning stages.

The rest of the ideas debuted at the festival were similarly interesting, particularly the black and bright yellow electric E4U Egg Car that looks perfectly suited for a villainous mall cop or a cartoon arch-enemy.

As there are still a lot of kinks to be worked out, according to researchers, before this "hovercraft" gets in motion, it's certain fun to see everything set in motion.
