The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has sent out a warning to consumers cautioning them against consuming any juice product or beverage from Juices Incorporated (also known as Juice International and Juices Enterprises) of Brooklyn, N.Y.

According to FDA reports, carrot and beet juice products by the company have the potential of being contaminated with Clostridium Botulinum (bacteria that can trigger Botulism) even if the product does not smell spoiled.

Botulism is a serious foodborne disease. The symptoms of this illness include weakness, dizziness, and pain while swallowing or speaking. Other common symptoms like weakness of muscle, problem in breathing, constipation and abdominal distension are also experienced.  Those experiencing these symptoms should seek immediate medical assistance.

The following juice products that have the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum are: Carrot Juice Drink, Carrot & Beet Juice Drink, Carrot & Ginger Drink, Double Trouble Carrot Punch, Ginger Beet Juice, Beet Juice Drink. These products are packed under different brand names such as Juices International, Juices Enterprises, and Juices Incorporated.

The products were previously available in New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. But of late it has been reported that the products of Juices Incorporated were seen in retail establishments and a few restaurants in New York City area.

Despite the Jan. 3 Consent Decree of Permanent Injunction, FDA investigators noticed that the company continues to manufacture and sell its juice products and beverages, going against the consent decree.
