An Irish woman who filed for rape against an area businessman was admitted to the hospital on Saturday because of a suspected drug overdose.

The 21-year-old was found unconscious in a hotel room where she was staying in India for work the following morning. Officials note that when a friend saw her condition, she was sent to the emergency room for help.

Police allegedly suspect she may have tried to commit suicide due to depression.

According to Independent.Ie, a one-line text message to the businessman that read "best of luck with life," was found on her phone following the incident.

"It was case of drug overdose. She was rushed in an unconscious state. She was first admitted under general physician. Though the drug overdose is still there, she is out of danger. Her stomach was washed. It will take another two or three days to for the patient to get better," said Dr Sudeshna Lahiri, deputy superintendent of Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI), via The Times of India.

It's reported that the woan consumed a deadly concoction of sleeping pills, pain killers and other drugs. The hospital informed both the Irish Consulate and local police station about the emergency admission of the lady, who is expected to make a full recovery.

The Rape Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) shows that women and men can go through several emotional and psychological reactions following this kind of traumatic and horrific event. Symptoms can include prolonged sadness or unexplained crying spells, and for some, can even lead to recurring thoughts of death or suicide.
