A face-lift at 16? It sounds rather insane to most of us, and even more ridiculous than 21-year-olds hitting celebrity botox-partys to prevent their eyebrows from moving.

However, for Zara Hartshorn, who suffers from a rare condition known as lipodystrophy, in which her bones decay, destroying fatty tissues and making her age rapidly, this gave her the youthful look that she's been wanting throughout the beginning of her teenage years.

When Hartshorn was diagnosed with the disease at 15, according to the Mirror, she'd already been suffering great abuse from school bullies, who reportedly called her grandma, monkey and other ugly slurs that insulted her appearance.

However, reports indicate that she learned that she had an even rarer illness following her first diagnoses, known as cutis laxa, which weakens the joints and causes heart and lung problems.

When she was contacted by Dr. Robert Ersek regarding a pioneering surgery for a free face-lift and nose augmentation that could help the appearance of her incurable condition, she said she grasp the opportunity to lead a more normal life.

"Now I can walk down the street and not feel like people are watching me," she said, via the Mirror.

"I look younger but I still feel older than my years because of everything I have been through."

Her boyfriend Ricky also makes her feel accepted and loved. "I tell her she's beautiful every day."
