Kids do the darndest things.

For 16-month-old Elizabeth, you might expect that this toddler learned to walk and shout out a first word or two. But for this gifted girl, she's going above and beyond the normal requirements. She actually learned to swim the length of an entire pool on her own.

According to her father, Adam BC, who uploaded a clip to YouTube last year of his daughter paddling around their pool, this viral video shows the power of learning at an early age.

In fact, many have praised him and his wife for teaching their daughter the benefits of water exercise almost since she was born.

Swimming is an excellent workout for cardiovascular health that promotes favorable heart and lung function, improves overall strength and flexibility and increases stamina and even improves balance and posture.

Though some skeptics criticized these parents for letting their child embrace the water at such an early age, most are simply mystified by her grace, style and natural understanding of swimming in the pool.

And, to further silence critics, the video description of Elizabeth's swimming notes that Adam is a registered nurse and his spouse is a lifeguard and swimming teacher.

"At no point do we force our child to do anything she is unwilling to try. We are able to recognize infant/toddler fatigue in the swimming pool," he wrote. "Elizabeth is a very determined little girl and sometimes she wants to roll over and breathe as she was taught and sometimes she wants to hold her breath the whole way," he added.
