Glow iPhone App Can Help You Get Pregnant
Could a new cell phone application actually tell you when you're most likely days are to conceive? According to the company Glow, they announced just in May, according to Time, that they're launching this free iPhone application that can actually help detect certain factors regarding menstrual cycles, cervical mucus and physical and emotional states. All of which can help couples conceive more quickly.
The CEO of the company, Mike Huang, said the application maximizes the chance of a couple's ability to get pregnant by telling them just exactly how likely their chances are each day.
As for coming up with the idea, Huang worked to make the thought of getting pregnant through an app more approchable and easy for those who might be skeptical or concerned regarding the details of its inner workings. "The whole topic, getting pregnant, is somewhat taboo," he said, according to Time. "Growing up, I learned more about not getting pregnant."
The way Glow works is that it tracks data rather than just letting couples know when they should try to expect to conceive. It asks them to routinely enter detailed information regarding their health and sex lives, and is the first application to help improve health care through the large-scale collection and analysis of data, according to Slate.com.
Statistics show that approximately 11 percent of women ages 15-44 have difficulties becoming pregnant, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Insurance coverage for infertility treatments can be insanely expensive, leaving many unable to afford them and without the results they are looking for.
According to CNN, just one round of in vitro fertilization can cost anywhere from $12,000 to $15,000.
With this new application, Huang hopes to provide a possible supplement for couples having trouble that may not meet insurance requirements or who are unable to afford them.
