A villa at a central Florida resort near Disney World partly collapsed as a section of it was swallowed into a sinkhole.

The incident occurred at the Summer Bay Resort located 10 miles west of Disney Worldon Sunday night. Luckily, no injuries were reported as the fire-fighters arrived promptly and the vacationers were evacuated from the building.

Tony Cuellar, chief of Lake County Fire Rescue Battalion, said that nearly 30 per cent of the villa, a three story building, collapsed.

It was on Sunday night that the authorities were called to the site as the residents noticed the building was making popping noises and the windows were breaking, reports the Associated Press.

The villa houses 24 units and nearly 20 people were staying in it at the time of the incident. All residents were asked to vacate the building.

The sinkhole, right in the middle of the villa, is approximately 60 feet in diameter and 15 feet deep. The building is currently slightly titled with multiple cracks and water leaking from within. The rest of the building is likely to collapse soon, according to the WKMG-TV.

Luis Perez, a vacationer at a villa near the one that sank, said he was in his room when the lights went off at 11.30 p.m. on Sunday. As he was walking toward the front desk to report about the power issue he noticed the fire fighters and police officials.

"I started walking toward where they were at and you could see the building leaning and you could see a big crack at the base of the building," said Perez.

This year has witnessed several sinkholes that have baffled so many. In March 2013, a sinkhole home swallowed a Florida man that opened up beneath the bedroom in his Tampa home. Last month in Ohio, a woman's car was gobbled by a sinkhole as she was driving in Toledo, she  managed to survive the disaster. This month a massive sinkhole opened up overnight in Wallace County engulfing a whole pasture.
