To pee as you shower is not as disgusting of a practice as some people will make it. In fact, peeing while showering can be good for the environment and ultimately for people, according to mathematics no less!
According to IFL Science, the mathematical analysis would reveal that peeing while showering can conserve so much water that you will be doing the planet a favor by doing this activity as you wash your hair.
Peeing and pooping use similar amount of water when flushing. While you cannot forego flushing when you poop, you can certainly just do your peeing as you shower and let the water wash away the urine, saving a lot of water as a result.
Mathematical computations reveal that an average flush for a modern, Western-style toilet will amount to 6 liters or 1.6 gallons of water. If the average adult urinates around seven times daily, this means that 42 liters of water are being used to flush the urine away. In a year, the average person would have used 15,330 liters or 4,050 gallons of water to flush.
If there are around 319 million people in the United States, IFL Science surmised that this means 4.9 trillion liters or 1.3 trillion gallons of water will be used to flush away urine only in a year. The site claimed that this is akin to using 1.97 million Olympic-sized swimming pools' water as flushing water.
if all Americans opt to pee in the shower instead, reducing one pee session from the average seven sessions, this could translate to 699 billion liters of water saved. Think of the savings when all people all over the world do this instead!
Because of climate change, water supplies around the world are starting to become scarce. This might be one small way for people to practice water conservation.
Prior to this analysis, several studies have been made to show the benefit of peeing in the shower. Pop Sugar, in particular, said this practice can make your sex life way hotter. SheKnows advocated peeing in the shower because it's actually more hygienic and quite fun to do!
