President-elect Donald Trump may believe it to be a hoax, but more than ever, scientists and innovators, businesses and civil societies are making their own effort to find solutions to help combat climate change -- and save the world from its impending demise.
The work will not be easy, especially now that the loss of biodiversity and critical ecosystems are among us. And now, with Trump at the helm of the most powerful country of the free world, Al Gore fears greater uncertainty.
In a guest blog he wrote for Scientific American, the former Vice President calls on each person to do their share in saving the world. He noted that people are in a "race against time" to make sure that they adapt certain change to "avoid the worst climate catastrophes."
Al Gore also noted that it is important that the global community, which consists of scientists, technologists, innovators, investors, entrepreneurs and even grassroot leaders to put in more effrot to understand the importance of stopping climate change and produce solutions -- thus the Paris Agreement.
But how can people turn the agreement into action? This is where the former Vice President came hand in hand with The Climate Reality Project, where they presented "24 Hours of Reality: The Road Forward." This 24-hour live broadcast explores climate solutions that could help bring the Paris Agreement to life with the help of cultural icons, musicians, leaders, environmental experts and the like, and how with every action people can accelerate the transition to providing clean energy.
As The Huffington Post noted, reaching the agreement is merely the first step in combating climate change, and people are at a critical time to take action for the protection of the planet.
At this point, it is also important to take note of Al Gore's words: "Innovation and action will do more good than ignorance and complacency. With the scientific and technology communities in our corner, we are undoubtedly on the Road Forward to a sustainable future."
