The Spider-Man PS4 game was unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 event along with an in-game engine demo. The trailer shows Peter Parker as Spider-Man in a new suit featuring a white spider emblem. The game developer has already confirmed the upcoming Spiderman game to be a standalone experience and not linked to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and next year's "Spider-Man: Homecoming" movie.
As far as 'Spider-Man PS4' release date is concerned, there's no word from the makers yet. Recently, US retailer GameStop listed December 26, 2017 as the game's release date. However, it was when a fan on Twitter asked the studio about the release date rumors, a spokesperson responded saying that the PS4 exclusive is unlikely to be given an official release date anytime soon. The studio went on to explain that the listed release date on GameStop is just a placeholder and reiterating that there is no release date just yet.
"That's a placeholder. No release date right now," the spokesperson noted, reported Express.
When one fan speculated that the game wouldn't get a launch for another two years, the gaming studio claimed that the speculation was not true.
"Who said it was 2 years away?" Insomniac replied. "Just stay tuned. We're still working on it and can narrow it down closer."
According to DualShockers, the still untitled Spider-Man for PS4 game has been in the works for more than a year and it's very likely that it won't get a release date before late 2017.
