Mercedes-Benz To Launch 1,000-HP Mercedes-Benz Supercar With F1 Engine Next Year

There are speculations that are circling around the web that Mercedez Benz lingers to come up with another hypercar, a powerful and super-fast vehicle that is capable of blowing your mind.

In a report issued by Driving.ca, a member of the Mercedes-AMG's Petronas F1 team told Evo magazine  at the Belgian Grand Prix, that the supercar dubbed as R50 is on its development stages and will be tested in the coming days.

According to Evo, the R50 will be pouncing on the off-shoot of the 1.6 liters turbocharged V6 engine that is used in Mercedes-AMG's F1 race car and capable of providing hefty 900-hp. There is a possibility that the car will boosted with a kinetic energy recovery system which would enable the power breeze past the 1,000-hp point.

But breaching the 1,000 horsepower mark is a daunting task. Since F1 engines aren't built for daily usage and are not capable of traveling long distances. There is a possibility that the engine will be raised to 2.0 liters and will come with another turbocharger. In addition, the electric motors are tipped to provide power to car's front wheels.

The hurdles don't end there, though, as Mercedes is targeting that the supercar should weigh at least 1,300 kgs. With that being said, expect that the majority of supercar's part will made up of carbon fiber and aluminum.

Since the touted supercar is still on its development phase, the finished product of the vehicle is anticipated to be unveiled one year from now, which is in sync with the 50^th anniversary of Mercedes-AMG. Also, expect that the price of the car to reach as high as 4 million euros as what Evo had suggested.
