Lenovo owned Motorola finally took the wraps off its latest addition to the Moto Z series, dubbed the Moto Z Play, at the IFA 2016 event in Berlin on Wednesday. The smartphone maker's Moto Z series currently includes three semi-modular smartphones including the Moto Z, the Moto Z Force and recently unveiled Moto Z Play. The Moto Z and the Moto Z Force were unveiled at Lenovo Tech World Show back in June.

Talking about Moto Z Play specs, the smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, a 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. There's a 16-megapixel primary camera on the rear, a 5-megapixel front facing camera and a fingerprint sensor on board. The Moto Z Play runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box and is powered by 3,510mAh which Motorola claims can last up to 50 hours of use on a single charge. The smartphone measures 156.40 x 76.40 x 6.99 (height x width x thickness) in size and weighs in at 165.00 grams, reported Gadgets 360.

While the Moto Z Play's overall design is quite similar to the Moto Z and Z Force, the back panel of the handset is made out of glass and not metal. The device is also water resistant as it comes with water-repellent nano-coating. It is interesting to note that the Moto Z Play marks the return of the 3.5mm headphone jack which was missing on the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force, reported Trusted Reviews. The Moto Z Play will be released in the US with a price tag of $449 sometime this month.

In addition, Motorola also announced a new Moto Mod which will enhance the device's camera. The highlights of the new Hasselblad True Zoom mod are 10x optical zoom, ability to shoot RAW images, physical shutter and zoom controls. The mod will be available globally starting in September at around $299.
