UTI, Bacterial Infections Can Be Prevented Through Exercise
Exercise is the most prescribed vitamins for better health. Benefits of physical activity are countless. Current research shows that one way to prevent Urinary Tract Infection or UTI is through exercise.
A team of Danish researchers from Aalborg University conducted a study linking exercise and bacterial infection. Experts studied the data on two health surveys from Danes in the year 2007 and 2010. The data involves 18,874 participants who answered a questionnaire about their physical activity and for those who obtained antibiotics within a year.
Researchers were able to discover that people who answered moderate level of exercise were less to take antibiotics for bacterial infection, compared to those who were inactive. Experts considered facts such as if the person is smoking and weight history. For some who answered low-key exercise, it still shows that they have less risk of bacterial infection, as reported by Time.
Moderate physical activity is four hours of weekly exercise through sports or heavy gardening or similar activities, while low physical activity is least four hours weekly of "strolling, riding a bicycle, or other light physical activity. Participants who answered low exercise have a 21% lower risk and for the moderate group has a 32% lower risk compared to inactive people.
Authors of the study stated, "These results indicate that practitioners should be aware of physical activity as a potential preventive factor for bacterial infections in the work of disease prevention and health promotion."
In line, the findings show a significant protective effect of low physical activity on the risk of suspected bacterial infection and risk for UTI specifically is lower for the people who does low and moderate exercise. Authors added that "These results indicate that practitioners should be aware of physical activity as a potential preventive factor for bacterial infections in the work of disease prevention and health promotion," according to Medical Daily.
