Lenovo Phab 2 Pro Review: Google Tango, Other Features, and Specs
The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is finally coming this November, and not only will it highlight the all-new device - but it will also share the spotlight with Google Tango. The 6.4-inch phone will the first in the world to be Tango-enabled. Here's a quick rundown of its specs, features, and a short review.
With Google Tango and Lenovo's trademark Assertive Display working together, users can now enjoy augmented reality but in a more realistic setting. They can now perform certain AR tasks like checking out the scale a particular piece of furniture against your actual living room.
The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro also has three cameras, which help the depth-sensing 3D camera system that Tango uses. The rear camera is 16MP, while the front camera is a respectable 8MP.
It is also equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, which is specially optimized for the technology. No need to worry about storage and performance, as it will be equipped with 64GB and 4GB of RAM.
Other features include a fingerprint scanner, and a 4050mAh battery back that has a 2.4x "turbo charging" feature.
There will be added value as well once more AR apps will be available in the Google Play Store. As of the moment, the current roster of Tango apps is still pretty buggy. More apps will be released as the release date gets nearer too.
According to Youtuber Techmagnet, the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro might not be a "real consumer phone." He thinks that AR is a pretty nice gimmick, but on a personal standpoint, he doesn't see using the technology on a daily basis. However, he says that consumer behavior might change once the phone is released and AR tech will have a daily use for consumers.
It's quite a huge phone at 6.4 inches, but it's pretty thin with its 8.9mm fully aluminum unibody. Available colors are Champagne Gold and Gunmetal Grey. It will sold at $499.
