Samsung's newest product looks eerily similar with Apple's cylindrical Mac Pro. The Samsung ArtPC Pulse is a new desktop computer that also comes in shiny black. It's cheaper than its Apple counterpart, and the specs are lower too. So what will its edge be?

It looks very similar. Both are shiny black and cylindrical, and they're almost just as tall. The Apple product is 2 inches shorter.

The ArtPC Pulse is being sold at $1,200 a pop, a huge difference from the 3-year old Apple product's price of $2,499. One thing you'll get in the Samsung product that won't get in the other would be "Harmon Kardon 360-degree Omni-directional speaker unit." It's a pretty good speaker producing crisp sound. This is probably the only thing it has better compared to its "rival."

However, even with an awesome speaker, it doesn't really still serve a compelling case for consumers to buy it.

As mentioned, the Apple Mac Pro fares better in terms of specs. The higher end version has a 6-Core processor, and this is so much more powerful compared to the ArtPC Pulse's Intel i5. Memory is also bigger - and overall, if you're a professional looking for a new desktop computer, the new Samsung product won't be the best bet.

A lot of critics think that this new product by the Korean tech company is quite bizarre. This was even considered as a huge risk, because they released this product without any actual clamor over it.

People are still confused as what the Samsung ArtPC Pulse is trying to be. It's a desktop computer with an odd design, but it leaves a lot to be desired especially in the tech department.

In the meantime, the desktop is currently available for pre-order. Shipping is expected to roll out at the end of the month.
