It seems rumors of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) upcoming graphics card, dubbed Radeon RX 490, getting a 2016 release date will soon turn out to be true. Notably, reports of AMD Radeon RX 490 2016 release started surfacing online after the highly anticipated graphics card was spotted on AMD's official website and Sapphire's website.

Interestingly, the RX 490 was found listed as part of a promotion ending December 31, 2016, reported WCCFTech. This means that there are high chances of AMD Radeon RX 490 getting unveiled this year. However, it remains to be seen whether the powerful GPU gets rolled out in 2016 or 2017.

While, some reports suggest that AMD Radeon RX 490 will feature the next generation Vega 10 architecture, other are claiming that the RX 490 will be a dual-GPU Polaris-based Radeon graphics chip. It is to be noted that RX 480 is based on the most powerful Polaris 10 GPU configuration. So, it seems quite unlikely of RX 490 getting the same Polaris GPU. Furthermore, it is expected that Vega 10 would make AMD Radeon RX 490 more powerful than its predecessors as well as competitor NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti, which is expected to get an early 2017 release.

Among other AMD Radeon RX 490 rumored specs, the next gen graphics card is rumored to get 9,830 GFLOPS of computing power with a base clock of 1200 MHz, reported Video Cardz. As per the report, there will a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 interface, a dual-GPU system, a 16384 MB memory size, a memory bandwidth of 716.8 GB/s along with a thermal power of 200 W on board. The RX 490 is also rumored to support 4K and VR gaming.

As far as pricing is concerned, the AMD Radeon RX 490 is expected to come with a $700 price tag. Readers are advised to take the information with a hefty pinch of salt as nothing has been officially confirmed by the makers.
