AMD Radeon RX 490 Release Date, Specs, Latest News: Upcoming Polaris 10 Graphics Card To Support ‘4K Gaming’?
AMD might be planning another Polaris 10 graphics card before the end of this year. The card, known as AMD Radeon RX 490, will be launched before the next generation Vega 10. According to WCCFTech, the GPU has been used as a promotional unit in 2016 for a semiconductor company in Sunnyvale. Besides, the AMD Radeon RX 490 was also seen on official websites of AMD and Sapphire, the discounted motherboard manufacturer certified by AMD.
AMD Radeon RX 490 Will Support "4K Gaming"
Moreover, the processing unit was also part of the leaked 400 series of graphics cards. It is speculated that this graphics card has been created to support 4K gaming to the fullest. Although, it is yet to be confirmed whether AMD Radeon RX 490 will have the Polaris 10 specs or the next-gen Vega 10 specs in it.
Vega 10 is scheduled for a release in the last days of December 2016. AMD plans on using it for the AMD Radeon RX 500 series of units instead of the RX 400 series. There are several reports which claim that AMD Radeon RX 490 might get either a November release date or an early 2017 launch.
AMD Radeon RX 490 is also rumored to be the most powerful graphics card unit for the Polaris 10 series. After the Polaris 10, Vega 10 series will take over for 2017. But, it is also speculated by Videocardz that the Radeon RX 490 is a Vega-10 variant and not a Polaris 10 one.
AMD Likely to Upgrade the Radeon 400 series
Plus, there are more reports that AMD might launch revamped versions of the RX 400 series in the early months of next year. The revamped versions are likely to have a new nomenclature for the cards. As per sources, the new numbers will be added with a "5" to each GPU unit. For instance, AMD Radeon 480 will change to AMD Radeon 485.
